How do I apply for Social Security Disability in Indiana?

You need to apply for Social Security Disability (SSDI) as soon as you believe you may have a long-term disability.   If you are unable to continue in your previous work, you need to apply for disability.   Although a lawyer can help you apply, most people apply for disability before they contact a lawyer.   If you have a clear “open-and-shut” case, you may be award SSDI without having a lawyer represent you.

You can apply for Social Security Disability in three ways:

  1. Call Social Security Administration’s Toll Free Number: 1-800-772-1213
  2. Visit or call the Social Security Office in your local area
  3. Complete your application online:  https://www.ssa.gov/planners/disability/dapply.html
